From the outset Magnet Theatre has always conducted skills workshops and outreach projects alongside its productions.
These skills workshops and outreach projects are designed to teach a whole range of performance and life skills to young people in particular, and to develop new audiences and participants for the performing arts in the future.
In September 1998, in an attempt to formalise the training and development aspects of the company’s work, The Magnet Theatre Educational Trust was established.
| This is what the community have said about the work of the Trust:
"“We are more than grateful for what you have done for our community. Our students have enjoyed it, it was educational … you did something wonderful. You are wonderful people. May you keep up the good work.”
Maureen Makoetlane, Vusisizwe Secondary, Worcester
"“The group’s performance was excellent … it also served as a stress release to some of us. We hope that you will come and perform for our inmates again.”
Mrs. Dyimani, Head: Female Prison, Pollsmoor
""… thank you very much for a super show and for the contribution you are making in uplifting and furthering the broadening of our children's knowledge.”
Jennifer Williams. Panorama Primary, Vredenburg
